Exclusive interview with D.C.

D.C. (In the photo) above, is influenced by 50 Cent.
Derek Colbert, much better known as D.C. (@DCtheprez),  is an Oklahoma City native that has been rapping for three years! This 23 year old fantastic and talented man, who's birthday is on July 9th, has a very appealing music style to share with the world! His idols in music are: Jay Z, Kanye West , and 50 cent; some of the most successful hip hop / rap stars ever in history. After watching 50 cent on an XXL video, D.C. felt the urge that it was actually the right time to begin his journey. The successful rapper 50 Cent was ultimately the channel D.C. utilized as a primary motivation to continue and never give up on what he wants to achieve within this career. Subsequently, he teamed up with his partner Marco and created: Musikhead. D.C. revealed in this interview also that he is not only a fan of legendary rappers. When he is not listening to rap, he loves to listen to Linkin Park! I have to admit that my favorite performance of D.C. is track #6 (Flashing Lights) of the mixtape he made on Kanye West .So now, let's see what D.C. has to say:

1. Why is 50 cent your biggest influence? What did you really see in 50 cent that motivated you to be who you are today?
50 cent is my biggest influence cause he showed me that no matter where you come from, no matter  what your situations are,  if you want it bad enough you can achieve it. He went through hell for his music and that's how I feel about mine. I believe in myself so much that I can't fail even if I do fail.  I just need to be heard by the right people.

2. Tell us about Musikhead. When did it begin and how was it born?
Musikhead is my heart and soul. It started back in 2007 when me and my partner Marco decided to do this music stuff. We feel that name embodies everything I do in my music cause I tell you how I feel and don't care how you feel about it. I can do many types genres of music and that name is just perfect for me.

3. How far do you wish to go with music?
With this music I'm seriously looking to be a well known singer / rapper that everybody will respect and understand cause I have alot to say in my music. I just need people to listen to me. I literally want to take over the game and be in everybody's top 5 all time list!

4. I see that you are also very interested in the music and talent of Kanye West. What do you think about his new song "Runaway"?
I am a big Kanye West fan and always will be, his song Runaway is like a masterpiece to me cause he's changing the style of music and I think people don't understand him. That's why when they hear his stuff everybody catches feelings; they want him to stick
to the traditional abc rap and that stuff doesn't cut it anymore. I rate the song Runaway with an A++++++++ !

5. What is musikamerica.com comprised of? Do you plan on creating a website dedicated just to yourself as a rapper, as a person?
Musikamerica.com is a site where everybody can come and post there mixtapes and just talk about hip hop in general.  I do plan on making a real website just for me;  havent got to that yet though.  I'm about to start making a bunch of music videos for my songs too and I have to do everything myself so it takes a little longer, but I love what i'm doing and will keep doing it.

These are some direct links to D.C.'s music / mixtapes. Enjoy!

Kanye West is wrapping up his album today!

Long time known and fully admired hip hop star Kanye West is delighting his fans by announcing that today he will  be wrapping up his new album. In addition to that, he will be adding the voice samples from his VMA performance as part of this process. The inclusion of this samples will give "Runaway"a special ingredient for various reasons. First, that all his fans (including me) would like to live one more time what is like to hear the song live just as it was performed during the VMA of this year. Second, despite this song will probably end up being 8 minutes long, listeners will still enjoy the beats and the voices that are being retrieved from the VMA performance. Such continuous song special effects, combined with the voice, talent, and Kanye's unique assertiveness, will only direct this album to extreme and expected success. This October 23, 2010 everyone that tunes in to MTV and BET will experience Kanye West's 35 min in length film: "Runaway", which will premiere simultaneously at 8pm US eastern time. Basically about  90 % of the songs featured in his film will be included in his upcoming album: "My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy", which is scheduled to be be released on November 22, 2010. Kanye's dream is to rebuild, revive, and broaden the pop culture  (which is inspired by the passing of Michael Jackson and painters such as Picasso.)

Which film or tv personality would you have dinner with?

Wouldn't it be nice to get to meet in person just any film / tv personality that you admire at a dinner event and ask them everything that you would like to know regarding their goals, or things that they like? If you have been following my blog, you can probably tell the first names that will come up to my mind if you ask me that question, which are: Kanye West, Wendy Williams, Kendra Wilkinson, George Lopez, Drew Barrymore, Channing Tatum, and many, many more!  They're all very special to me. How about you and why?

360 degrees for Video Music Awards 2010

Indeed it was one of the best nights for music this year. The MTV Video Music Awards 2010 was just accessible everywhere, and from all angles! It was very thrilling to observe arrive some of the best talents that we have such as Katy Perry. Her blue and pink strands of hair were absolutely adorable! Not to mention that her bubbly and sympathetic personality made me admire her even more. I have to speak my mind and just say that I think that Nicki Minaj claimed territory one more time as one of the best female hip hop singers and performers. She really knew how to pump that party up with her very unique outfit and eye catching dance moves! And last but not least, I have to say that Kanye West is the most random rapper I have ever seen. But guess what? I don't think too many people are focused in this but there is a reason why he was chosen for the finale; bottomline: he stole the show with his ballet dancers, his radiating  passion for the music, and his enchanting talent which was reflected in the the debut of his new song : "Runaway".

True Lies by Kanye West?

On Saturday, September 4, 2010 Kanye West reinstated: "I'm sorry Taylor". I wonder how it feels like being a constant target on a situation like this. A day before it happened (September 3, 2010), I was listening to his "Flashing Lights" song that was featured in Yahoo's New Commercial with my newest favorite actor (out of my list of favorite actors and actresses), Christian Kyriacou.

Just a day after, I learned through TMZ.com that he had expressed his sorrow through his Twitter account. I had recently signed up for Twitter, so I decided to begin following him. I began going through his tweets and came to the conclusion that this man (whether he was sober or not) was expressing publicly his extreme pain. We are not just talking about a hip hop icon, we are reading the words of someone being regretful. I don't believe that he was calling everyone's attention for his upcoming album. He doesn't need anymore publicity or fame; he has been singing for many years and he will always have a growing number of fans. I'm not worried about this being a publicity stunt.

What I'm worried about, is that we're dealing here with a person that has found a way to communicate to the world how sorry he is through writing, and some of the readers are still not appreciating that, in my perspective. Every reader and writer is free to express what he or she thinks. I believe you and I believe in you, Kanye. Everyone makes mistakes and what you did in front of Taylor once was  merely said to state your opinion, but you need to be more careful on how, when, or where you express what you feel for many reasons. What do you  all think?
